Short answer. A Bhutan trip includes the sustainable development fee (SDF) of $100.00 US dollars per person per night, a $40.00 US dollars visa, hotels, meals, a guide, transfers and flights. It makes sense to compare the total trip price, not just the daily fee.
What is the sustainable development fee (SDF)?
A nightly government charge per person that funds free healthcare and education, forest conservation and carbon-offset programmes. It is currently $100.00 US dollars per night for adults, $50.00 US dollars for children aged 6 to 11, and free for children under 6. It is confirmed until 31 August 2027 and may change afterwards.
How much does a Bhutan visa cost?
$40.00 US dollars per person, per trip. Approval usually takes 5 to 6 working days.
What else do you need to pay for?
- Hotels: prices vary with category (three or four stars) and season.
- Meals, guide and transfers: usually included in the package.
- Flights: purchased separately to Paro with Drukair or Bhutan Airlines.
- Personal extras: drinks, tips, travel insurance and shopping.
What does our 10-day trip include?
