Greenland is not driven: there are no roads between towns. You travel by boat, helicopter or on foot, and that difficulty is exactly what keeps it intact.
The ice
The Ilulissat icefjord discharges more ice into the sea than any other glacier in the northern hemisphere. Seeing it from a small boat, among blocks the size of buildings, resets your sense of scale.
The people
88% of the population is Inuit. Hunting, fishing and kayaking remain daily life, not an attraction. Our hosts are local and we intend to keep it that way.
The settlements
Coloured houses on bare rock, no trees, no fences. Ilulissat, Oqaatsut or Ilimanaq fit into one walk and never leave you.
When to go
June to September to sail among icebergs under near-permanent light; winter for dog sledding and auroras, with tougher logistics.
What to expect
Weather that writes the itinerary, flights that shift, and a remoteness hard to find anywhere else.
